The West Coast version of the famous Rockefeller Christmas Tree Lighting of NYC, The Grove’s Tree Lighting Event promises a Hollywood touch to an already starry event. With appearances and performances by both Meghan Trainor and Seth MacFarlane (Family Guy) accompanied by a 55-piece orchestra, you’re going to want to be at the Grove on November 14th from 7-9pm. Spend the day shopping at the mall and then hunker down to get the best seats in the house no later than 5:00. Take advantage of one of the most notorious art installation in recent history, Random International’s “Rain Room” (2012) now showing at the LA County Museum of Art (LACMA). Using sensor touch technology, the Rain Room is easier experienced than explained. First finding a home at New York’s MoMa, the piece has made it’s way to the West Coast and is currently setting up shop in LA from November 1, 2015 to March 6, 2016. While at the piece, take advantage of the trip and visit LACMA for the countless other beautiful and sublime offerings. We may have been over-zealous, but we’ve put them in chronological order, just in case you can see them all! CAAM: CAAM’s doors open from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. for exhibition viewing and an art workshop. From 6pm onwards, stay for CAAM’s special program, Gleaming at Twilight, featuring live performances. Fourth of July Fireworks Extravaganza: Roughly 15,000 people attend Fireworks Extravaganza at LA’s Exposition Park.
